Omega is the name of a prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer.
Louis Brandt was the founder, in 1848, assembling pocket watches being the beginning of a successfully venture.
His two sons started to work with him and were able to introduce an in-house manufacturing system. The year was 1894.
The Omega Watch Co. was founded in 1903.
Besides the knowledge of manufacturing quality watches, the company was very successful at branding and marketing.
In 1917 the British army adopted Omega’s watches to be the official timekeeper of his troops. The American army did the same in 1918.
Many famous people worn Omega watches: James Bond, John F. Kennedy, Jacques Cousteau, Michael Phelps, Prince William and more.
Not less important to mention is the fact that a watch worn by Buzz Aldrin was the first to reach the Moon. It was an “Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph”. NASA wanted to try how zero gravity will affect a mechanical movement watch. It worked well.
Another important branding step was being the official timekeeper for the Olympics, PGA tournaments, winter Olympics and more.
